Known as one of the medicinal plants in Indonesia. Originally from Papua / Irian Jaya , now spread out all over the island. Crown of god thrives in loose, fertile soil at an altitude of 10-1200 m above sea level. This shrub grows to the height of 1 to 2.5 m. Round its trunk, its surface rough, brown, woody and gummy, branching simpodial. Single leaf, located opposite each other, short-stemmed, lanceolate or elliptic shape, the tipbase and tapering, flat edge, smooth, dark green, 7-10 cm long, 2-5 cm wide. Flowers come out throughout the year, lying scattered on thestems or leaves the armpit, the form of tubes, are small, white, and fragrant.
Fruit is a round shape , 3-5 cm diameter, smooth, grooved, when young, green and red colorafter cooking. White flesh, fibrous, and watery. Seeds are round, hard, brown. Rootedriding and yellow-brown. Propagation by grafting and seeds.Phaleria contain several active substances such as:God petals contain antihistamines, alkaloids, saponins, and polyphenols (lignans).Skin of the fruit contains alkaloids, saponins, and flavonoids.
To extend the shelf life Phaleria, preservation can be done in several ways including refrigeration, canning, and drying.
Drying is done to reduce the water content in the material, may prolong the shelf life of these Phaleria. The proper drying conditions will effect the drying high quality results.
Desease that can be cured :Dispel itching (antipruritus) and anticancer. Poisonous seeds. RESULTS AND EFFECTS pharmacological results showed that thebioactivity of extracts Phaleria BSLT method followed by in vitro anticancerscreening test against leukemia cells 1210, showed very high toxicity and potentialas anticancer. Identification of active chemical compounds in the extracts obtained Phaleria lignan compounds belonging to the class of polyphenolic compounds andsyringaresinol (Dra. Vivi Lisdawati MSi, Apt., Thesis in Mathematics and Natural Sciences S-2 UL Sound Update, Wednesday, April 9, 2003).
